Fall Fashion ~ Shopping List

Although fall is my most favorite season, creating outfits fit for the season it quite difficult. Going from bright colors and skirts and not sleeved shirts, to layers and warm tones is quite a change. I have a good start on this season's looks for fall, but there are still some items I want to add to my collection to make it more complete.

Here is just a small portion of the items that I think would be perfect to add to any autumn fashion wardrobe.

What do you think? Any suggestions?

Whimsical Weekends ~ Autumn Reading

If you could not already tell, Fall just may be my favorite season. I love how everything becomes so cozy and the colors become so warm. Walking and running outside are my favorite forms of physical activity. Even homework is nice to do outside. The air is crisp in the mornings and warm by midday, and the sun is shining in the cobalt blue sky. And today, I wore a vest without dying of heat stroke. It was pure delight.

But when the nights become darker and cooler there is nothing I love more than snuggling with a slice of warm apple pie and some tea and a good book. I want to devote some more time to reading this fall so I have come up with a list of some of the books I want to read.

Let me know if you decide to read any of these by emailing me at  apairofchicpearls@gmail.com .

Have a lovely weekend, see you Monday...

Battle Paint

Before I start I would like to tell you that I am completely and utterly confident in my own skin. I use makeup just to enhance my natural beauty, not to hide it, or use makeup as a mask. And sometimes, I even leave the house without it on. I think that makeup is an art form that only a few people will master.

I think of makeup kind of like a necklace. I would not want both to be statements. If one day I decide to go with a bold red lip, then my necklace will be simple, and vise versa. I am still young, and natural makeup looks are the best way to go, but I am old enough to experiment with different colors for different times of day and different seasons.

Fall is my favorite time to experiment with makeup, the fresh dark colors are just so eye-catching.

FACE // It depends on the morning how much makeup I apply to my face, but I always put a bit of concealer under my eyes and on my problem areas to make my face look brighter and more alive. And if I stay up late or am just feeling like more coverage that day, I love Clinique Even Better Foundation it is super light and it makes my complexion better. And to top all of this off I use just a swipe of powder.

EYES // I love my eyes. They are my favorite feature. I am the only person in my family to have blue eyes so I embrace them very much. But at 6:00 in the morning they just look tired. I just apply the littlest bit of mascara to my top lashes to make my eyes look wide awake.

LIPS // Normally lip conditioner is how I roll in the mornings, but some mornings I like to experiment with the tiniest bit of color to my lips. There is no reason besides it is super super fun and different. For the fall I love using warm colors.

"Work is a part of life. But your life is not your work." - Carly A. Heitlinger

I could not agree with this statement from one of my favorite bloggers, Carly. I have had so much on my plate these past few weeks with piano, school work, working out, eating healthy, AND blogging. Having to have all of these activities shoved in my face is quite overwhelming; without organization. I can tell you what my plans are for the rest of the year because I am so very organized.

But lately, I have been struggling balancing all of this PLUS social events and having time just for me. I kind of imagine life as a pie chart, and everything must be equal on the pie chart for it to work. wow I'm such a nerd.

Here is how I am surviving: even though I am organized I cannot go absolutely crazy if there is one flaw in my plan, everything happens for a reason.

LISTS AND VISUAL PLANNING // When it come to school and life I am a very visual person. I like to set up my week with this adorable to-do list I found online. It really helps me visualize my week before me. I also recommend this Pinterest page for everything from beauty to organization. It is my new favorite.

PLANNER // My Lilly planner is a LIFESAVER. It helps keep all of my events in one place, and everything I put in here goes on my iPhone (iOS 7 eep!) calendar. This way it reminds me of events so I don't forget about them.

DAY TO DAY CALENDARS // I like these calendars to put in my planner to cross off the days after they are complete. It provides such a fulfilling feeling or completion.

ORGANIZE TIME // I like to tidy up my work at the beginning of the day and at the end of the night. That way I don't have to have loose papers and objects looming around.

MEDITATION // I need to take more time to do this. I also need to start yoga again. And at the end of the day, I reflect on what I did and what I need to to better.

MUSIC // Music is a wonderful escape. I love Pandora. Someday I will share my favorite stations.

Coconut Chocolate Chip Cookies **VEGAN**

Hello Loves!

As I promised last week here is the amazing recipe for my "Coconut Chocolate Chip Cookies". These cookies use only raw and organic ingredients and 100% vegan. They are absolutely perfect for those sweet craving we all get. The best part? They are very healthy, and only use the best ingredients.

You will need:

6 tablespoons of coconut flour
4 tablespoons of coconut oil
1 tablespoon of honey
1 tablespoon of chocolate chips (preferably ones with cacao or dark chocolate)
and 1 medium glass bowl

**Note substituting whole-wheat flour for the coconut flour will make the cookie taste just like regular chocolate cookies

What to do:

Preheat your oven to 350
Combine all of the ingredients into the medium bowl with just a regular spoon.

Roll them out onto a small cookie sheet.
** Note that there are not a lot of measurements in this recipe so there is not going to be a lot of product. For larger parties I would suggest doubling or tripling the recipe.

Place them in the oven for 10 minutes.

Cool and enjoy!

These cookies are perfect for school lunches, afternoon snacks, or with frozen yogurt at night. I hope you enjoy them.

Email me at apairofchicpearls@gmail.com if you would like to have a PDF version of this recipe or have suggestions for future posts.

xx Kira

Monday Fashion Inspiration

Happy Monday Loves!

I love looking for fashion inspiration everywhere I can and every chance I get. Over the past few months I have found my ultimate fashion inspiration; and her name is Sarah Vickers. I found her through Rachel Timmerman and I have completely fallen in love with her style. It is so classy and so chic and old fashioned ... and all together simply perfect.

She lives a very posh life in New England with her preppy friends and her completely perfect for her boyfriend KJP. They have summertime parties, bonfires, and apple picking. Their kind of life is to die for. I have completely fallen in love with it, and one day when I am older after I leave New York City, I would love to have a life like theirs: full of adventure and having the best time with my dear friends doing high class activities.

Sarah's style is perfection; very elegant and very classy. I enjoy taking inspiration from her blog and applying it to my personal style.

Ladies and Gentleman without further adieu I would like to present Sarah Vickers:

(she and KJP are just too adorable)

Have an absolutely lovely day!

Morning Routine

Hello Loves,

I really dislike waking up in the morning and aimlessly wandering from my warm bed. I like to be very anal about my routine in the mornings. I was so inspired by my friend Sydney to do a morning routine, I thought it would be just so much fun.

Waking Up // I allow myself to wake up at 6:00 sharp ... that is enough time to hit the snooze button until 6:05. And I tend to stretch and slowly roll out of bed at 6:10.

Applying Makeup // Before I apply my makeup; if I'm flat ironing my hair, that day I plug it in. Every morning I put on brightening concealer, loose powder, and a bit of mascara to make my eyes look refreshed. (Makeup routine coming soon!!) This takes from 6:15-6:25.

Doing my hair // From 6:25-6:40 I do my hair. I'll do a post later showing my favorite ways to do my hair.

Final Outfit Preparations // And from 6:40-7:00 I put on my outfit and jewelry and a splash of perfume.

Breakfast and Tea // I like to eat breakfast and drink tea from 7:00-7:15. I have an extra five minutes because if you saw my last post, I pack my lunch the night before. I can relax, prepare my mind for the day, and catch up on the current events in the newspaper.

Cram time // 7:15-7:20 is cram time!!!! I brush my teeth while getting my final bag packed for school. I check my planner one last time and head out the door. I am a good multitasker.

Have a beautiful weekend my loves, see you Monday!

Staying Healthy at School

Hi Lovelies,

Before I get started, I would like to first and foremost apologize for the lack of posts this week. School is turning out to be quite challenging and time consuming this year, and blogging on top of that is also very very challenging. I need to find a way to balance my school, blog, and social lives. (Hint hint, blog post soon)

I am super strict about what I eat, and going to school is NOT an excuse to eat junk food. I find it just as easy to pack a lush green salad as it is to pack a slice of cake; and to be honest I find it just as delicious. And the best hint I can give about packing healthy lunches is doing it the night before.

PROTEIN //  Protein is what makes me full at lunch, because I eat lots of fruits and veggies at lunch. I typically tend to stay with lean grilled chicken, salmon, and nuts. I love organic almond butter to dip my apples in.

GREENS //  Having a veggie in you lunch is a wonder. It is filling yet, super healthy. I love organic spinach.

FRUITS //  Having fruit is just like having candy for me. It is super sweet, but yet the sweetness al all NATURAL ... way to go Mother Earth! Today, I sliced a whole organic gala apple, and a cup of organic grapes and put them in my lunch.

SOMETHING SWEET //  Seeing people eat sweets at lunch really puts me on edge and I get MAJOR cravings. This past weekend though, I tried a delicious recipe for VEGAN four ingredient, and HEALTHY chocolate chip cookies. (I'll share soon)

And to drink? I typically have water or unsweetened organic tea.

Make sure to be kind to nature too. I LOVE Pyrex glass containers, and plus they are microwaveable.

Keep your lunches very colorful.

Whimsical Weekends ~ Fall into Autumn

Hi Loves,

Autumn is by far my most favorite season. I love the colors, when the weather starts to become sweater weather, and the seasonal foods like apples, pumpkin pie, and coffee. And how could I forget that fall is my birthday?

Fall is my favorite season and this time I want to live it to its fullest. And now I present to you; my "Autumn 2013 Bucket List":

What is your "Autumn Bucket List"? Email me at apairofchicpearls@gmail.com or tag me in a picture on Twitter @apairofpearls.

PS Just before winter starts I will let y'all know which items I completed.

Six School Staples

Hi Loves!

I have a pretty standard routine for school. I get up at 6:00, get dressed, have breakfast, and my mom drives me to school. Once I get at school, I see my friends and chat for a little bit and then its right to class I go. And during each class, there are six things I always find myself grabbing.

Mechanical Pencils // For some reason wood pencils and I just seem to not get along. I always tend to by the same colorful mechanical pencils; they are cheap, they come in bulk, and they just do their job. I like these because there is no fancy contraption on this pencil, plain and simple they just write.

Thermal Cup  //  Every morning I bring tea to school. Tea is such a wonderful alternative to coffee, it is calorie free and it has a nice natural amount of caffeine in it. Well at least enough to get me to lunch time. (Look for a post about my morning teas combinations very soon)

My Purse  // This purse is a perfect size to hold all of my little things that  I need for school. I will do a post a lot more in depth about my purse soon.

Planner  // I am absolute in love with my planner! She helps keep me super organized with school, social, and blogging schedules.

Lilly Stickers  // These dainty little stickers are so cute. I label binders, folders, my planner,  and practically any thing I can get my hands on with Lilly goodness.

Colorful Pens  // Again, I like to keep my school supplies plain and simple, not too fancy because I tend to forget and lose my pens and pencils anywhere. These pens are perfect for color coding my planner for important dates and color coding my notes.

I hope you are having a lovely day.

J'adore mon petit cahier

Hi Loves,

Notebooks are one of my dainty little obsessions -- especially mini ones. I just recently got some from Target and they are so inspirational.

This is one of the little things in life I truly hold near and dear to my heart.

A Journey to Self Discovery

Hi Loves!

Welcome to the new Ribbons and Pearls!

Reading is something that I do at night. It calms me down after a long day, allows me to have some quality me, myself, and I time, and it also get me away from technology, I have been kind of inseparable from my laptop, oops. (Which get me to thinking: Should I unplug for a couple of days?

I like to read light hearted books. One's that will take me away into a different place.

Over the past two weeks though, I have been loving Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert.
Eat, Pray, Love is phenomenal. It has inspired me to do so much with my life. I have been reading it ever so slowly and carefully, savoring each sweet passage. And I have even been taking small, meaningful notes for myself to remember to apply to my life. I am not finished reading Eat, Pray, Love but when I do, I will share my experience, my notes, and my thoughts.

I am so excited to start a new journey here, and I can't wait to meet many new friends from all over the world. Please stop by often to discover my style, what I like to do, and get to know me.

xx Kira
