Chartres and our Petite Chateau in the Loire Valley / Photo Diary

Where: Chartres - a beautiful medieval town with an absolutely stunning cathedral showcasing both Romanesque and Gothic architecture with and impressive array of handmade stained glass windows dated back to the 13th and 14th centuries. This cathedral is in the process of being restored to its former state after several centuries worth of weather, soot, wars and life. Saint Patrice - a teeny tiny village located in the heart of the Loire Valley home to a small yet elegant Chateau and within miles of other chateaux of the Loire

What: oogling at the architecture of the beautiful cathedral, munching on freshly baked baguettes while window shopping and admiring the stained glass artists in Chartres and walking around pathways and side streets  the chateau/hotel in Saint Patrice in preparation for that night's dinner (mostly more bread and dessert!)

La Ville et La Palais de Versailles / Photo Diary

Where: the town and Palace of Versailles - the once swampy hunting lodge turned chateau by Louis XIV the "Sun King" of France - a mere 15 miles outside the heart of Paris

What: exploring the quaint town, lunching in the gardens of the palace on warm baguettes, fine cheeses, and the freshest strawberries and raspberries, zipping around the beautiful Grand Canal via golf carts (it was way way way to hot to walk), and lusting over the grandeur of the interior of the chateau

stay tuned for (a lot) more recaps of my adventure en France!
